Tarun Bulchandani
Senior architecture leader based in London. Twenty years building enterprise systems, the last several specifically in AI-native architecture and large-scale transformation.
What I do, in a sentence
I lead enterprise architecture functions. The current iteration of that is at Sonnedix, a global renewable-energy independent power producer, where I established the architecture function from zero and have personally designed and built two AI-native internal platforms — Meridian and CANVAS — which between them have consolidated a stack of licensed enterprise SaaS into a single, audit-grade, internally-built system.
Before that, enterprise architecture governance at Aviva, global SAP S/4HANA architecture at Nestlé, and a series of earlier roles across multi-platform programmes in UK energy, financial services and consumer goods.
What I write about
Three streams, broadly.
AI-native enterprise architecture. The practical patterns for deploying generative AI and agentic systems in regulated enterprise contexts — governance, audit, evaluation, the actual policy you need for AI coding tools, the protocols and standards (MCP in particular) that are quietly reshaping how systems integrate.
Architecture practice. The mechanics of running an architecture function in 2026: Architecture Decision Records, fitness functions for measuring architectural health, identity-first security architecture, the realities of large-scale ERP transformation, event-driven architecture and when it actually adds value, and the particular patterns that fit acquisition-heavy companies.
Case studies. Deeper technical pieces on systems I have built end-to-end. Meridian and CANVAS are the major ones. Springboard (an AI-native job-search platform) is the most recent.

Career summary
| Period | Organisation | Role | Focus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Current | Sonnedix (global renewables independent power producer) | Head of Architecture | Establishing the EA function from zero. Building AI-native internal platforms. Architecture governance for a fast-growing acquisition-heavy business. |
| Prior | Aviva (global insurance / financial services) | Enterprise Architecture Governance lead | Architecture governance across regulated insurance and financial-services markets. Heavy regulatory scrutiny. $30M saved over three years. |
| Prior | Nestlé (global FMCG) | Global SAP S/4HANA Architecture | Architecture for a CHF 350M+ multi-region S/4HANA transformation programme. Chaired the global Architecture Governance Board. |
| Earlier | Various (UK energy, utilities, consumer goods) | Architecture and consulting roles | Multi-platform programmes of $350M+, integration architecture, ERP modernisation. |
Twenty years total. SAP, Salesforce, cloud architecture (Azure primarily, AWS where relevant), AI/ML architecture, enterprise integration, identity and security architecture. TOGAF certified.
Things I have built
The most current and visible:
- Meridian — internal AI-native enterprise architecture platform. Next.js 15, TypeScript, FastAPI, PostgreSQL on Azure, Microsoft Entra ID, Google Gemini for the conversational assistant. Replacing a stack of licensed enterprise SaaS (~$170K/year in savings at steady state). Includes the CANVAS approval workflow folded in as a first-class surface.
- CANVAS — the Central Application aNd Vendor Approval System. Nuxt 3, Flask, PostgreSQL, Microsoft Entra ID, Azure OpenAI. Ten-step workflow from application intake through contract signing, with append-only audit log, single-use SLT email approval tokens, and AI-generated architecture memos.
- Springboard — solo-built AI-native job-search platform. ~15K lines, one engineer. Next.js 15 + Drizzle + Supabase + a fleet of GitHub Actions cron workers.
- Architecture governance functions at multiple organisations, the most recent built end-to-end from zero.

A short FAQ
Are you available for new roles? Open conversations. The strongest fits are Head of Architecture, Chief Architect, Head of AI Architecture, or equivalent senior architecture leadership in regulated industries.
Do you do consulting or advisory work? Selective and limited. Architecture advisory for boards or executive teams, with a focus on AI-native enterprise architecture, EA function design, and large-scale transformation programmes.
Do you speak at events? Yes — particularly on AI in regulated enterprise contexts, architecture governance, and the practicalities of building AI-native internal systems. See /speaking/ for talks given and topics offered.
Can I republish a piece from your blog? Yes, with attribution and a canonical link back. Please drop me a note before — happy to help frame it for the audience.
